A good book can feel like a true friend providing its reader with warmth and comfort. The telling of stories is as old as time and a tool that can build connection and understanding. I love how the right book can have a unique power with its reader and generate the capacity to be heart-lifting and healing.

‘An Unexpected Outcome' was my first published children’s book written and illustrated after our personal experience with congenital hypothyroidism. This condition is picked up during the newborn screening test (heel prick test) shortly after birth. A diagnosis can feel scary, overwhelming, and even lonely for parents, especially during those first few months.

When I wrote this book my aim was simple- to create something that would help people going through what we went through. ‘An Unexpected Outcome’ has done just that with copies finding their homes all around the world. As the years flow on this little book continues to find the people who need it, and I love that.
